Kent O’Jon, Director of the Black Maricopa Chamber of Commerce https://www.blackmaricopacc.com/ is encouraging the City of Maricopa to celebrate and engage in all Juneteenth Celebrations. He is calling for the support of all residents. Come with an open heart to learn and grow. "We are all part of one big community quilt. Juneteenth is a part of the collective quilt of people".
What is Juneteenth? Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Also called: Juneteenth National Independence Day Jubilee Day Emancipation Day (TX) Freedom Day Black Independence Day.
Two major events are scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2023.
